The Staring Eyes poem was inspired by the Gothic series.
Staring eyes
Your dead eyes stare at me, your bodies are tied up and impaled.
They spared no one: men, children and women.
A gruesome alley, it's you who guide everyone
Who dares to ride through.
I hear it: the suffering and wailing as you still lived,
Already on the verge of death.
Your souls accuse me, who I am still alive, trying to avenge you,
That you find peace, they didn't even get a shroud.
In death you need peace and quiet,
So don't stare and close your eyes.
Gothic and his corpses
All too often in Gothic, those in power display corpses to intimidate and demonstrate their power. In Gothic it's sometimes impaled dead on poles.
