Star Control 3 combines space exploration with adventure. The league aims to colonize the Kessarie Quadrant. Unfortunately, their hyperspace jumps no longer work. Only a single spaceship is able to switch between the solar systems. You visit the allied alien races, collect ships and do digs.
You cannot avoid hegemony. It is the competition that is also fighting for supremacy in the sector. Unfortunately, the solar systems only show maps that are very poor in color.

Your fleet only appears as a yellow C with the specified number of ships. For the battles you choose a ship and duel with the opponents. Asteroids and planets are obstacles there for you.

24 types of ships can be equipped with up to two weapons. You visit solar systems, talk to aliens and dig up "anomalies". You research these artifacts in the colonies. With them you improve your types and optimize their firepower. There is little point in starting new colonies. The colonies produce your spaceships, landing drones and fuel. You spend most of your time with multiple choic conversations, and each breed calls in. You fulfill assignments, make alliances and explore the cosmos.
Conclusion
The graphics weren't very nice even for the time the game was released. The flow of the game turns out to be a bit monotonous, as there aren't that many different actions to choose from. The fights feel like an eternity. If you like to use tactics, think strategically and want to manage colonies, this is not the right place for you. Overall, the game could have been more complex.
