Anyone who thinks that this game is about Robin Hood in Sherwood Forest, you are right. It is a level-based 3D jump and run game that even offers a multiplayer mode. It can be played in time or survival mode, which increases the difficulty level.
In the first level, explanations are given by means of embedded short texts, by means of which the player can familiarize himself with the operation.
At Sherwood Extreme it is important to survive every level safely. Above all, you have to defend yourself against enemies with a bow and arrow. It is helpful here that there is a slow-motion function, as this helps you to get on as unscathed as possible. On the way you come through different environments such as a lava cave or crystal grottoes. On your way you collect life points that you can always use well and gems to unlock further weapons (and accessories such as - somewhat untypical for Robin Hood's time - a telescope), clothing and additional challenges.
This is possible in the night village, in which you will find yourself after each level. Here you can exchange the collected diamonds for the previously mentioned objects.
The levels offer all sorts of crazy actions, including a flight with the chicken jet pack or a crazy ride on the lava boar; You can also move forward by sliding on cable cars. But you are not only on land or in the air, because ships at sea also make their appearance.
In Sherwood Extreme you have the opportunity to play many different characters, initially only Robin Hood, but later also a court jester, pirates, the king and many female characters. In the course of the game they can also work together to achieve a goal better or faster. This is made possible by the multiplayer mode mentioned at the beginning.
The abilities and movement possibilities of the figures are impressive, including somersaults or cool turns in the air and in slow motion a little á la Neo in Matrix.
Graphics: As already mentioned at the beginning, this is a 3D game in which many elements have been deliberately kept coarser, you can imagine this like an object carved out of wood. This is a refreshing change and is very popular. In a way, it also fits in with the time of the Sherwood Forest
Music: Some of the background music is almost hard rock, which may not be for everyone. The sounds of the explosion, guns and fighting are authentic.
And finally ... Sherwood Extreme belongs to the category of games for in between, it has short levels and thus does not hold the player in the same way as games that build a story, e.g. B. Tomb Raider. The possibilities that the multiplayer mode offers are an enrichment.
