Resident Evil Revelations

In 2004 the city of Terragrigia was established as a seaside town on the Mediterranean Sea. The future metropolis went under after the terrorist organization Veltro released a virus in the city.

Resident Evil Revelations

This Resident Evil game saw Biohazard Revelations (Resident evil revelations) the light of day in Japan. It is one of the survival horror games in the successful Resident Evil series.

the story

BSAA agent Jill Valentine and her partner Luciani investigate strange carcasses on the coast. These have been attacked by a malicious pathogen. Then the two go in search of Chris Redfield, who is already known from the first part of Resident Evil. He is missing on the cruise ship Queen Zenobia.

Resident Evil Revelations

Resident Evil Revelations was released for the 3DS, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U and classic for the Windows system on the PC. Playing through the campaign takes a good 10 hours. The story is suspenseful and the cutscenes are very well animated. The game was originally developed for a handheld system. As a result, the game was designed to be broken down into several small sections. A well-told thread runs through the story. At the end of each episode you are faced with an exciting cliff hanger. Story-wise, Resident Evil Revelations follows on from the first Resident Evil parts.

The protagonist

You steer Jill over your shoulder from the 3rd person perspective and wander through dark rooms and corridors. You search the area for objects and clues as to what may have happened. You are looking for ammunition and medicinal herbs. There are no differently colored medicinal herbs. It is controlled by mouse and keyboard.

Quests

The quests are limited to finding the right key for doors. Therefore, you have to keep visiting certain rooms to find the right keys. The head nuts of the first Resident Evil parts are missing.

The opponents

The enemies are monsters mutated by the virus. The zombies don't come in excess, but rather well chosen in the right places. In Resident Evil Revelations, the ammunition shortage of the other parts continues. Every now and then the shooter elements come through a little too much.

The graphic

Unfortunately, the graphics have been optimized for the PC version. The density of details, number of polygons, lighting and shadows do not make a very good impression.

Difficulty

In addition to the normal level of difficulty, the developers added the level of difficulty "Hellish". Where there is a creepy atmosphere at one point in normal mode, many zombies appear in hellish mode who demand ammunition and catapult you into a shooter rather than a scary atmosphere.

Conclusion

Resident Evil Revelations has taken good elements from the earlier parts. The atmosphere is creepy as long as you don't choose the level of difficulty "Hellish". The ammo shortage makes the part a real survival horror game. The graphics are out of date and the missions are poorly designed.
