A newer series for the Nintendo DS from Capcom is Mega Man Star Force. The game appeared in the variants Pegasus / Leo and Dragon.
Mega Man Star Force
The game Mega Man Star Force was released in Japan under the title Shooting Star Rockman (Ryūsei no Rokkuman - 流星 の ロ ッ ク マ ン).
Omega Xis invasion
The protagonist of this series of games is Geo Stelar. His father died on a mission for the Brotherhood in space. The young Geo does not go to school and does not dare to form bonds with other people. When he is at a vantage point, something hits him that later turns out to be his alien partner Omega Xis. They merge with each other and fight aliens from the planet Omega Xis together.
Pegasus, Leo and Dragon
The game appeared in three versions. They differ primarily in the battle chips that are available. The admins and powers of the versions differ from each other.
Gameplay
The introduction to the game is very extensive. The graphics have not changed compared to previous Battle Network parts. You follow the events from an isometric point of view from Geo's perspective. The touchscreen is increasingly used for the action parts. In the upper screen you have a view of the status of your hero, such as life bar, current level and battle cards. One innovation is the Transer, the successor to the cell phone. It forms a central point in the game from which everything can be coordinated. From there you have access to your battle decks, weapons and multiplayer options. In the brother system, the fighting strength of your characters is united. The fights are randomly generated.
Graphics and sound
Graphically, you get a good 3D representation. The game is kept in comic graphics and strong colors come into their own in the DS. The fights particularly score with the 3D representation. The effects are very successful. The sound is a bit too intrusive and not always melodic. The development for the Japanese market comes through here a little too much.
Conclusion
Mega Man Star Force Pegasus / Leo / Dragon is ideal for fans of the Battle Network series. The game scores a few new elements, but relies heavily on proven templates. The 3D presentation is well done and the game is motivating. The gameplay is varied. Overall, a good game that is not great and entertaining.

Mega Man Star Force 2 - Zerker x Ninja
The second Mega Man Man Star Force 2 game from Capcom was released in the versions Zerker x Ninja and Zerker x Saurian. Mega Man Star Force 2 was released in Japan under the title Shooting Star Rockman 2 (Ryūsei no Rokkuman Tsū - 流星 の ロ ッ ク マ ン 2). The game was developed and published by Capcom for the Nintendo DS.
The virus
A deadly virus is spreading across the world. The villains Dark Phantom and Doctor Vega Chaos are up to mischief on earth. Two heroes merge to Mega Man to face evil in the wave world.
Sauria and ninja
Both games differ in the ways in which the protagonists can transform. Different tribes populate the game world. The versions contain Donner Zerker and the wooden ninja as a variant.
The game
Mega Man Star Force 2 is divided into several episodes. Geo Stellar goes into battle against the villains who are able to transform into other characters. In the game, you have to try to find out what Dr. Vega and Dark Phantom have planned and stop them. You switch between the normal and the wave world.
Gameplay
Geo merges with the alien Omega-Xis and becomes Mega Man. He can thereby walk around on the electromagnetic waves in the world. He competes against other opponents and attacks with special techniques. Solve small puzzles from the protagonist. The principle is a tried and tested 3 × 3 large 3D field on which Mega Man and his opponents move. You aim at the opponents and hit them with pinpoint accuracy. Mega Man collects various trading cards and uses them to improve his weapons and armor. He can transform into a strong elemental version of himself. The controls are kept simple and easy to learn. The menu is clearly laid out.
Graphics and sound
While the overworld has not strayed far from the GBA version, the battles are shown in 3D graphics. In contrast to the old graphic, this has been improved and adapted to the DS-System. The sound is somewhat oriented towards the Japanese audience and takes some getting used to for the Western audience.
Conclusion
Anyone who knows the series will be spoiled with familiar game material. Not much has changed compared to the earlier parts. The principle corresponds to the first Star Force game. The story and the content are a bit monotonous and not particularly innovative. The tried and tested game principle still promises a lot of fun for RPG fans and collectors.

Mega Man Star Force 3 - Black Ace / Red Joker
Mega Man Star Force 3 from Capcom appeared in 2 versions. One version is Mega Man Star Force 3 Black Ace, while the other was released under the title Red Joker. Mega Man Star Force 3 was released in Japan under the title Shooting Star Rockman 3 (Ryūsei no Rokkuman Suri - 流星 の ロ ッ ク マ ン 3). The developer and publisher of the game was Capcom.
the story
Scientists discover the so-called wizzards. They make people's lives more convenient, but they send out waves that cause disturbances in the wave world. In addition, wizards have lost control and problems arise. The criminal syndicate around Mr. King manipulates and collects the problem robots. He pretends to be a businessman who pretends to be for the good of society and the public. In reality he is working on minpulating the Meteor G. This should go on a collision course with the earth. Gei Stelar and Omega-Xis begin to thwart his plans in the form of Mega Man. Geo is used in the fight against the underworld dealers.
The game principle
As in the previous part, you have a combination of action shooter, adventure and card game. Battle Cards support you with your special weapons and skills in the fight against the hostile robots.
Mega Man as an RPG
The school boy Geo Stelar talks to fellow citizens in the real world and goes to fight in the wave world as Mega Man. He fuses with an alien to fight the robot army of evil. The 3D graphics of the combat system are well adapted to the DS system. You have to use the cards skillfully in the game.
The combat system
To fight the evil robots, Mega Man switches to a world of radio waves. There he meets his opponent. For the fight, the system changes to a 3D grid in an isometric view. Mega Man moves in real time on his field. Usually he fights with his Mega Buster, which he can recharge or shoot in continuous fire. He can use battle cards to expand his weapons. These are trading cards that Mega Man can use to improve weapons or armor in combat. He can take a certain number of cards into battle. The battle cards are selected at random from the set.
Conclusion
The mix of action shooter and card game is an all-round success. If you like the earlier parts, the last two will serve you very well. Fun for Mega Man fans. The only downer is that both parts were not published in German, but only in English.
