Mega Man 7 is the first part that came out for the SNES.
Mega Man has Dr. Wily's plans foiled again. Dr. Wily is behind bars. Unfortunately he has an emergency plan up his sleeve again, which is why it breaks out after just 6 months. He had programmed his robots in such a way that they would free him after this time if something should go wrong. Many districts of Monsteropolis are devastated by the robots. Dr. Light instantly sends Mega Man into battle.
Mega Man 7 begins with an introductory intro. It shows Dr. Wily's prison break. Mega Man chases the scientist who has broken out. Only then will you be shown the selection screen for the robots. In contrast to the earlier parts, only 4 final bosses are waiting for you. You face opponents, defeat the level boss and collect his weapon in order to use it against another level boss.
A partial victory
Once you have shown fear to your first opponents, you will move to an intermediate level. Dr. Wily and Guts Man you might know from one NES-Part know, flee from you. Again there are 4 levels with new robot bosses. You will be offered another selection screen.
Weapon or pioneer?
The new weapons are not only good for defeating the level bosses. They also open up new paths for you. For example, you can use a freeze jet to freeze lava so that it rises up.
On the way to Dr. Wily
If you have defeated the final boss, you come to Dr. Wily. Of course you have to get through the Wilylevel first. Sometimes the levels are much too short. Rush supports you again in this Mega Man part with his ability to transform. Within the level you can collect the letters "RUSH" and use the item you get to turn Rush into a jet.
There is also a car shop. In this you can buy life, energy tanks and other items. To pay for these, you collect the appropriate currency in the game Bolts. They are either hidden in the levels or the opponents drop them when they are defeated. In the game you also have the opportunity to fight duels with friends. To do this, however, you have to find out a secret password.
Graphics and sound
The graphics are motley and varied. The opponents and the environment are not monotonous, but form a colorful potpourri of design. The soundtrack promises catchy tunes and sounds appropriate to the level.
Finally a way to save!
In the 7th Mega Man part you finally have the opportunity to create save states. This makes the game much easier.
Conclusion on Mega Man 7
Mega Man 7 is very good and brimming with ingenuity. The colors are colorful and the levels varied. The principle of exchanging bolts for item and life is an innovative option. Only the levels are too short and the level of difficulty leaves a lot to be desired. Definitely recommended for fans of the series.
