Keen Software House is an independent games studio that creates games based on real science, real facts, real physics and real emotions.
The Company
The company has its Based in Prague in the Czech Republic. It was founded in 2010 by Marek Rosa. The studio’s first game, Miner Wars 2081, focused on an open world with destructive terrain, while the second game, Space Engineers, volumetric physics gameplay presented in a space-based environment focused on engineering, construction, and maintenance of spaceships and stations.
The VRAGE engine from Keen Software House
The technological know-how finally enabled the software house to develop the VRAGE engine. The company then uses it to create games that use elements of science in gameplay. The company uses the VRAGE engine for their game titles. VRAGE stands for Volumetric Rage or Voxel Rage.
Medieval Stories
In addition, the developer created a separate team dedicated to the development of Medieval Engineers. The game uses a similar one Rendering-Styles, with weight and block based destruction/deformation transported to medieval times with physics based calculations. The game offers both a single and multiplayer experience, including planets; with space travel, but with the territory-based grid system where clans then fight on the ground, which they can later build on as well. Realistic mechanical weapons like catapults can also be created. The system maps the real damage structures in real time.
The developer's games include:
