After Ankh, Jack Keane is one of the most successful adventure games on deck 13. Here, too, we are dealing with the likeable loser type.
Jack Keane
Poor Jack Keane is being hunted down by money collectors. His ship has been paid for with the borrowed money and has started to crumble. He was lost and can't pay off his loan. While he is on the run, he receives an offer from the British secret service to drive an agent to a tropical island. Exactly on this island the diabolical Doctor T is up to mischief. This is the governor and T-exporter and aims to level the British Empire to the ground. With herbivorous plants he wants to destroy the tea plantations of the world and maintain the monopoly on them. The secret agent is supposed to thwart this plan.
As in Ankh, there are many characters in Jack Keane. Humor is definitely capitalized here. The story is funny and together with the bizarre characters that Deck 13 creates, the laugh muscles are not neglected. The dialogues are funny and the characters are lovingly designed. The puzzles include everything from easy to very difficult. From the middle of the game on you have to try it out a bit more. As a support, the game objectives can be called up again with the tab key. Jack Keane makes some brain cells smoke. A lot has to be thought around the corner here. There is also a hotspot function. With one button all important objects are displayed on the screen. Jack Keane has a comic look and is graphically very nicely designed. In some places you can switch between Jack and Amanda. The synchronization, especially Johnny Depp, who speaks to Jack, is an excellent one. But the other sounds and pieces of music can also be heard.
Conclusion
Jack Keane is an all-round successful point and click adventure. The comic graphics are excellently designed and the music creates the right atmosphere in the game. The puzzles make the player's head smoke and the story white with so white. The whole game is fun and extremely entertaining. The puzzles can also be solved logically and this game is a must for adventure fans.
