Everspace 2 puts you in space. Expects you in the game of Rockfish Games especially a space shooter. It's a bit reminiscent of the classic arcade games.
Space shooter Everspace 2
The spaceships can be controlled quickly and easily with WASD. There is also a height navigation and the boosting of the ship. You usually control smaller spaceships or fighters. The evasive options have been optimized in the second part of the game. The developers also improved the physics system, which allows you to better dodge. The ships have different hulls, armor, shields and weapon systems.

On a tour of discovery
Everspace 2 does not offer any roguelike elements. A saved game can be easily reloaded and you don't have to start over. That was always necessary in the first part. The story, the space exploration as well as the loot and the optimization of your own ship come to the fore.
Star systems
Two star systems are available to travel at the start. In total, there are later eight systems with different sectors. Inside you'll find space stations, planets where you can perform surface missions, as well as rough shipwrecks and asteroids. There is no shortage of enemies in Everspace 2.
The different worlds of Everspace 2
Smaller pauses in loading occur between the sectors and areas, which is why it is not a completely open world. You often move from area to area with your jump drive.
A clone on the run
The game tells the story of Adam Roslin. The space pilot has been cloned and is being pursued. He uses false identities to go into hiding. However, the past always catches up with him. He is constantly on the run, meeting new people or rescuing injured acquaintances. Animated cutscenes tell the story.
Summary
Everspace 2 promises a lot, but has some weaknesses in the combat system. The focus is primarily on the action. It's to the game's credit that the developers decided against the roguelike elements. The story is interesting and the spaceship can be adapted to the needs. We can look forward to the game from Rockfish Games.
