The Smurfs dare to hit the slopes. With a racing game they bring a smurfy pleasure to the PS1. Will they make it to the finish or are other racing games pushing them off the track?
Smurfy selection
At the beginning you have the choice between eight different Smurfs. You can unlock four more Smurfs. There are a total of ten courses. Three lead through the Smurf village, three through the castle, three through the forbidden zone and a secret level is waiting to be unlocked by you. The two levels of difficulty are easy and expert, which you can choose at the beginning. You can play the game alone or in pairs. The two-player mode has the disadvantage that you get problems with controls and perspective.
Graphics and sound
Graphically, this game is a pleasure. It is presented as colorful, pretty, tasteful, smurfy. The opening and closing videos are particularly nice to look at. The music is excellent and goes well with the game.
The game
It's very fun at first. It gets boring later. You have three different modes available. The first is the individual race, the second is the championship mode and the last is the flag mode. You can only unlock the secret characters in Championship mode. Racing Smurfs are something different, but unfortunately they don't offer long-term fun. When you've finished the game on both difficulty levels, you're done with it.
Conclusion
The Smurfs racing game is great. The low level of difficulty is simply due to the fact that this game is aimed at children. Still, it's a lot of fun to compete in the races and unlock all characters. If you are looking for your first racing game to test or if you are new to this genre, this game is just the thing. Even if you are just looking for a game just for fun or are a hard choir smurf fan, go for smurfs. The Smurfs: Get Ready, Go! is highly recommended.
