Do you hear this loud arguing
From a distance?
It echoes out of the forest
A discordant scolding chorus.
Two voices angry at each other roar
Fill the rest of the forest with swear words.
The witch was outraged
Because it disturbs her sleep.
She followed the voices, saw them in good time
Fighting over a fallen tree trunk.
She rolled up her sleeves:
"For that noise! Do I have to commend you!
For a long time no one honored me
So bothered me while resting!"
Frightened they looked at the brawlers,
Then the witch cast her spell.
She plugged her ears
Went home and lay down to rest.
Who were the brawlers, you want to know
Who chased our witch from the pillow?
look! What harmony!
They're playing a symphony!
A man tall as a tower
Has a worm on his shoulder!
The man fiddles songs with the violin,
The same melody, over and over again!
The woodworm sings in a deep tenor,
A song to the lumberjack.
