The Wet Fish - The Sorokins' Treasure
The developer Garlic Games Media and Carlsen Verlag have joined forces to create an augmented reality game. The wet fish is the model for the series Babylon Berlin, which takes place in Berlin in 1929.
The protagonist is Gereon Raths. Countess Sorokina was kidnapped. In the game, the crime scene is digitally displayed in the living room via AR. You search for clues and decipher puzzles in order to finally find the treasure of the Sorokins. The game is kept in black and white and also uses the music of the time.
Two locations are available at the beginning of the game: Rath's office in the “Rotenburg” and the artist's dressing room in the Diamant Varieté. Another location should be, for example, the station office in the Anhalter station. Additional locations are to be added below.
You should be able to interact with objects in the game and find important clues. It used an inventory in which you store items in order to use them later. The cutscenes were implemented by Arne Jysch, the cartoonist.
Different levels are available in the game. You will be sent to the different crime scenes and look for evidence. The crime scenes are projected in front of you in augmented reality. With your smartphone or tablet you move through the real world in order to move forward in the virtual world.
Conclusion
The first look at the game is quite interesting. It's just a shame that this game was developed exclusively for the iPad and iPhone. Otherwise it is something for friends of augmented reality and fans of detective games.
