With Blood Knights, Deck 13 tried to do knights and combine vampires in an RPG. Unfortunately, you did not succeed in this attempt.
Blood knights
Blood Knights is a game that uses the hack & slay concept. Jeremy is a former crusader who specializes in hand-to-hand combat. The counterpart is the vampire Alysa, whom he would actually hunt as a vampire hunter. The vampire hunter and the vampire are bound to each other by soul connection. So the two of them pull together against the underworld.
The game itself mostly focuses on battles supported by special attacks. The combat system is quite simple and not particularly challenging. Jeremy usually explains in hand-to-hand combat and the vampire from a distance. Both protagonists together can suck the life energy out of their opponents, which makes the game noticeably easier. The characters of the game are designed rather implausibly and were not particularly well staged. That game could have done better. The potential would have been there.
The game's graphics leave a lot to be desired, although attention to detail is lacking here. The facial expressions of the characters are relatively monotonous. The characters' sayings are not particularly varied either; you have the opportunity to make some decisions in the dialogues.
Conclusion
Blood Knights clearly lacks attention to detail. The game itself offers an interesting story and simple controls from the ground up, but it quickly becomes monotonous and disappoints expectations. This game lacks long-term motivation and it only takes 4 hours to get through it. If you are looking for a good role-playing game, you should look for something else. There is no recommendation here.
