Arcania
Piranha Bytes and Jowood fell out, which hindered the development of the 4th. Gothic-Partly went to Studio Spellbound. This game is definitely not Gothic. The game world is no longer as open as we know from the events. The areas are completed and it goes from one quest to the next. There isn't as much to discover here as in Gothic. Graphic Graphically the game is done very nicely. But unfortunately there are many borders here in the form of rocks and walls. The game makes a buggy impression when the hero gets stuck in nature. You can't sleep in this part either, in order to let time pass. The daily routine is not really well structured. The plot In contrast to other Gothic parts, the game has a plot that develops into a revenge story on the hero of earlier parts. The plot of Arcania is not really exciting. For this you will meet some characters from earlier parts again. The action itself is achieved in the form of dialogues with still images that look like paintings. There is an open end to this. The quests Arcania also fails on the quests. They don't really invite you to keep playing the game. The jobs are monotonous and not very varied. This affects the main quests and the side quests. There are also very few side quests. With the missing quests there is no freedom of choice, as Gothic players are used to. The faction system is also missing in this part. Conclusion Arcania fails all along the line, where Gothic has always scored. There are too many inconsistencies in this game, too little freedom. This reduces the replay value and as the player in turn it is difficult to stay motivated. If you are looking for a real sequel, you should stick to Risen.
