Amagon was created in 1989 for the NES released and puts you as a marine on a deserted island.
Amagon
You are a marine whose plane crashes and stranded on an island. Of course there is already a lifeboat waiting for you on the other side of the island. The only thing that provides you is a lot of steroids lying around on the island. The game is a 2D run & shoot game. If the controls and graphics were better, it would look different. The levels are constructed in an interesting way and you have an infinite amount of ammunition available. Mainly you see here bright green, blue and punk.
Across the island
The main gimmick here is the game dynamics. You fight your way through the island and have to face angry elephants and other animals. Occasionally you get a power-up that gives you special abilities. You have no one-hit kills and small service rifles here. Instead you have gigantic death machines whose power depends on how many points you collected before your mutation. You can also trade health for powerful energy weapons.

The opponents
The only problem is the very tough opponents. There are tons of little enemies walking around on the ground, but you'll also encounter them in the air. So you need good defense and evasive skills. You have to decide for yourself in the level when the right time is to mutate.
Graphics and sound
The graphics are boring and very bright. In return, there are very few details and a small color palette. Mostly you will encounter blue and green tones. The same goes for the sound. He has little depth.
The level of difficulty
The problem with this game is the level of difficulty. This game is not "fair". You feel like you are constantly being punished. One death after another follows, which you often don't see coming. Jumping from one side of a pit to the other? Forget it! Surprisingly, a bird flies into your jump path right there. Of course you can learn to recognize the triggers for the respective opponent, but even the first levels can be a nasty challenge. In stage two you will already encounter 10 opponents on the first screen. You quickly lose track of things.
Gameplay
The Jump mechanics is strange and hard to get used to. The faster you release the jump button, the faster you will fall back to the ground. This makes your character difficult to control and it looks like a ridiculous force field is holding them to the ground.
Conclusion
The gameplay is not every gamer's dream. The protagonist is difficult to control and the graphics are very simple. The sound doesn't stand out either. The level of difficulty prevents all other except masochistic players from continuing to play. So keep your hands off this game.
