We are in the year 1894: Timothy Moore wants to go to America and ends up in the town of Plymouth. He escapes from the ship and goes into hiding. At the same time, the body of a notorious mass murderer disappears.
Alter Ego
Alter Ego comes from Future Games, which is a point & click horror adventure Black Mirror take responsibility. The game is played from the perspective of two characters. Timothy Moore is a small-time crook. Detective Bristol investigates the events surrounding the late Sir William. He's just been transferred to the city. The adventure takes place in the Victorian era.
After arriving in Plymouth as a stowaway in 1894, the petty crook Timothy Moore fled before he was arrested. He wanted to go to America and ended up there reluctantly. His goal is to flee as quickly as possible and leave the city. Unfortunately, he is drawn into the murder investigation. There was a sudden death shortly before. Sir William perished. There was some commotion at his funeral because the body of the alleged mass murderer was stolen from the crypt. A series of murders puts the city in turmoil.
The game has a somewhat morbid atmosphere, but still doesn't manage to create the right scary atmosphere. But the story is interesting and the synchronization of the protagonists is very successful. Sound effects and music are missing here. Compared to Black Mirror, Alter Ego hasn't improved that much.
Conclusion
The protagonists are not really sympathetic. Alter Ego is an entertaining mystery adventure that can be played well in between. The look is a bit dated. The big hit, compared to Black Mirror, is not.
