The All-StarBaseballseries is one of the best on the N 64. The gameplay has been improved in the 2000 version.
All Star Baseball 2000
The game has an MLB license. 30 Major League Baseball teams, with real players, were included in the game. There are 4 different game modes you can play: Exhibition, Season, Play-Off and Home Derby.
The improvements
There are new shot properties in the game and with some new options you can see in which zone the pitch is being played. If you're correct, the chance of contact is greater and you have an improved chance of hitting the ball. If you misjudge the pitch, your chances of contact will be reduced. You can change the angle by pointing your target at the thrower and choosing where to hit the ball. You can point it to the left to hit the ball into the left field. If you aim at the sky, you hit a pop-up or you choose the ground for a grounder. You need to time the field and get the shot target on the court when it comes.
Graphics and sound
If you're familiar with the All Star series you already know that they are very high resolution graphics for the time of the N 64. The players are represented very realistically. It's definitely one of the visually better games on the N 64. The animations of the players are shown very well; they run, walk on the platform, duck and give a really realistic picture of a baseball game. The players are represented polygonally and make it look very realistic. There is also an instant replay mode that allows you to zoom in and better watch the players doing their actions. You can look at them from different angles. One recognizes one or the other graphic error, for example, when the catchers catch waves that are not near you. Statistics problems of the previous game have been fixed.
Sound
All Star in the audio sector Baseball 2000 leaves a lot to be desired. The commentators on the New York Yankee station are John Sterling and Maike Kay, who leave a lot to be desired. Many sentences are repeated. A little more variety in the comments would be beneficial. Some voices seem muffled. The crowd is silent and doesn't cheer.
Conclusion
Overall is All Star Baseball 2000 a refined version of the previous game. New features and improvements add up and make the N 64 a fun ride. Baseball Definitely recommended to fans.
