This post is dedicated to Dungeons and Dragon: Heroes of the Lance. It is one of the worst games available for the NES have appeared. Difficult, frustrating and reduces the fun of the game.
Heroes of the Lance
It is based on the PC game of the same name. You take on a group of eight heroes based on characters from the books in the Dragon Lance series. The problem can already be found in the combat system. The characters move far too slowly. They act at walking pace and get faster the longer you hold down the directional button. In the game you will find various items such as treasures, weapons, shields and potions.
The combat system
When an opponent approaches, the fight begins. You are standing in one place, swinging your weapon and cannot attack while moving. With every fight you take damage in any case, you cannot block or dodge attacks. You can use attack and healing spells to help. To do this, however, the magicians must be in the first row. The spells are cast with a wand that has only a limited charge available. The spells can be used almost indefinitely due to the large MP reserve.
Xah Tsaroth
The world in which you move is built up like a maze. You can only find your way around if you map it yourself in such a way that you get the overview or take the notes.
Graphic
The backgrounds make the game appear dark. In combat there is... background objects only black, gray, light gray or dark green. The character portraits are quite nicely designed. While the graphics seem like a big mess, the music is beautifully done. The sound effects don't stand out much. Every now and then you hear some cheesy sounds. The monsters all sound the same when they attack. Women listen to the same things as men.
Conclusion
The problem with Heroes of the Lance is that it looks unfinished. Laughed, the values of the characters hardly had any impact on the game or on their skill level. Heroes of the Lance isn't really worth it. It has an interesting atmosphere, but it seems too immature to be successful. Even for a NES game, it is not recommended.
